Denton (Texas) Ryan five-star linebacker Anthony Hill has been committed to Texas A&M since July 30. However, multiple schools are still seeking his commitment.

One of them is Texas. Two Longhorns coaches, head coach Steve Sarkisian and linebackers coach Jeff Choate, are at Hill’s Thursday night game against Saginaw (Texas).

Hill chose the Aggies over Texas during his recruiting process. However, the Longhorns don’t seem to giving up on one of the best prospects in Texas anytime soon.

Even Texas’ commitments are involved in the chase for Hill. Desoto (Texas) four-star wide receiver and Longhorns commit Johntay Cook II pitched Hill to flip his pledge to the Longhorns on social media.

Hill is the No. 15 overall prospect and No. 1 linebacker in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 2 player in Texas.

Hill is a top target for Texas’ 2023 recruiting class

Texas currently has one of the best recruiting classes in the country. Their 2023 group ranks No. 5 in the 2023 On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings and No. 1 in the Big 12.

The class is led by Cook, New Orleans (La.) Isidore Newman Five-Star Plus+ quarterback Arch Manning and New Iberia (La.) Westgate five-star safety Derek Williams. If Hill decides to flip his commitment to the Longhorns, he would be the class’ second-highest-ranked prospect and its third five-star recruit.

Meanwhile, Hill is the highest-ranked prospect in Texas A&M’s 2023 recruiting class. The Aggies’ group ranks No. 16 in the 2023 On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings and No. 6 in the SEC.

“The tradition,” Anthony Hill Sr. told On3’s Justin Wells about Texas. “That offense is going to be just fine. Defense needs a little work. Steve Sarkisian and Jeff Banks offered him at Alabama and has a great relationship with the staff. The day Sark took the Texas job, he called Anthony Jr. He has friends in Austin like Ja’Tavion Sanders and Austin Jordan.”
