Steve Sarkisian has had nothing but problems at the quarterback position this year when it comes to injuries. Quinn Ewers left the game vs. Alabama and has not returned to the field since, despite warming up and participating in practice. Hudson Card, who has been starting, is not fully healthy himself either.

Texas was able to escape without a Card injury against UTSA. Now, early in the game against Texas Tech, Card was once again seen limping off the field. Only issue? He was forced back onto the field to hold for a field goal.

Card has proven in the past that he is tough, playing through injuries throughout his career. He was not right during the Alabama game either after coming in to replace Ewers. If there is anybody who is going to play through some pain, it’s the third-year quarterback.

Thankfully for Texas, Card was back on the field to get their first drive of the second quarter underway. However, the result was not a positive one, overthrowing his receiver on a deep route. Texas Tech was able to intercept the pass and take it the other way.

Hudson Card not the only Texas player limping

Texas could not have asked for a better start to Saturday’s game. Keilan Robinson was able to score on a blown assignment, stumbling his way into the end zone to give the Longhorns a 7-0 lead. However, it’s the health of Xavier Worthy that’s a concern at the moment.

Right as the ESPN broadcast was moving from the previous game to Lubbock, Worthy was seen limping off the field during the opening drive. Trainers met him near the bench but before getting any more information, the cameras cut back onto the field for the action.

Reporters at Jones AT&T Stadium said Worthy was rolled up on before leaving the field. To begin Texas’ second drive of the game, Worthy was seen back on the field. For now, a crisis has been adverted for the Longhorns.
