Thursday night, Agiye Hall was arrested on criminal mischief charges. Friday, Texas coach Steve Sarkisian announced the punishment. Hall has been suspended indefinitely, Sarkisian said in a statement.

“We’re aware of the situation involving Agiye Hall, have talked with his family, and have suspended him from all team activities for conduct that is detrimental to our program,” the statement read.

The Travis County Sheriff’s Office took Hall into custody Thursday night for criminal mischief between $100 and $750, Inside Texas’ Joe Cook reported. The police report said Hall damaged a $600 “vehicle boot,” according to the Austin American-Statesman’s Brian Davis.

Hall transferred to Texas over the offseason after starting his career at Alabama. Just prior to his decision to enter the transfer portal, Nick Saban suspended Hall for a violation of team rules.

“He is suspended from the team for violations of some team rules, whether they’re academic or whatever, it doesn’t really matter,” Saban said at the time, via AL.com’s Mike Rodak. “Everybody has a responsibility and obligation to respect the principles and values.”

The next day, Hall entered the portal and ended up committing to Texas on April 19. He was the No. 35 transfer to hit the portal this offseason, according to the 2021 On3 Transfer Portal Rankings.

More on Agiye Hall

Last year, Agiye Hall appeared in three games and caught four receptions for 72 yards. Alabama made it to the national championship, falling to Georgia.

Just last week, Sarkisian discussed Hall’s maturity as he makes the transition to the Longhorns program.

“I think he’s progressing you know, transition is tough for everybody, I get all that you know,” Sarkisian said. “When you’re a true freshman and you’re thrust into some of the environments and big time games that he was in, and are you prepared? Are you not? So our job as coaches with any player, Agiye is no different than Keilan Robinson or Ryan Watts or anybody that comes into our program, is to try to get them immersed into our culture.

“And then try to develop them on and off the field so they can grow and have an impact on our team, but also kind of grow as a person and man and player, to build their brand and get them to be as close to their potential as progress. He’s got a lot of potential, he’s making progress. Not a finished product, but I don’t expect our guys to be finished products, what I do expect is growth. We’re seeing that.”
