The Texas Longhorns basketball program hinted at a big announcement via Twitter on Friday evening. Check out the video below — which got a tweet from former five-star prospect and McDonald’s All-American, Dillon Mitchell.

The player in the video appears to be Dillon Mitchell. He commented on the video with a tweet. Check out what he had to say.

Texas football just updated their uniforms, so maybe the video is an early teaser for new basketball uniforms for the 2022-2023 season for Texas.

As for Mitchell, the gifted forward has already been mentioned in some early 2023 NBA Mock Drafts. One quick glance at his highlights and it’s easy to see why. Big things are expected from him this season on the hardwood for the Longhorns, and it’s a pretty safe bet the spectacular forward will deliver in every way, shape, and form.

Mitchell is a human highlight reel and once you turn on the tape, it’s easy to recognize why he was so highly coveted across the country. He put on a show just a few months ago at the 2022 McDonald’s All-American game. He stuffed the stat sheet with nine points, four rebounds, and two assists.

The high flyer is one of the best dunkers in his class and simply glides to the hoop when he takes off from the floor. As a defender, he routinely swats basketballs away like a volleyball player drilling a spike.

Texas basketball reveals non-conference schedule

Texas revealed their 2022-2023 non-conference schedule on Thursday. The Longhorns have a highly anticipated November 16 showdown with the Gonzaga Bulldogs. That matchup will be Texas’ third game of the year. Like many other previous years, the Bulldogs are once again expected to be national title contenders and they boast a roster that’s absolutely stacked with talent.

The Longhorns’ first non-conference matchup of the season will be against the UTEP Miners on Monday, Nov. 7. Then, Texas will face off against an in-state opponent, Houston Baptist on Thursday, Nov. 10.

One of the more highly anticipated non-conference matchups for Texas will come in the Big 12-Big East matchup. The Longhorns will play against the Creighton Bluejays–a team that is always one of the more dangerous squads in college basketball. Another big matchup on the non-conference slate will come when Texas travels to Knoxville, Tennessee to face the Tennessee Volunteers on Saturday, Jan. 28 as part of the SEC/Big 12 Challenge.
