Before Texas can officially claim that they’re back – their fans have to show up first. And according to Brett McMurphy, the Longhorns faithful have set a record for preseason season ticket sales with over 63,300 tickets sold and counting.

The mark topples a previous best of 63,279 that was set back in 2019. The next two seasons would be riddled with COVID-19 precautions before getting back to complete normalcy this season.

Texas’ record-setting preseason ticket sales, while impressive, can also be chalked up to the marquee matchup against the Alabama Crimson Tide that Texas will be hosting Week Two inside Darrell K Royal–Texas Memorial Stadium.

Before the Longhorns can get there, however, Texas will have to battle Louisiana-Monroe at home on Sept. 3 in the regular season opener. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. ET with the Longhorn Network carrying the broadcast.

Bijan Robinson addresses finding his trash talking voice on Texas practice field

Texas Longhorns running back Bijan Robinson is one of the best backs in the country. Now, he’s opened up about finding his voice as a trash talker on the practice field.

“I think I’ve found my voice,” Bijan Robinson said. “I’ve been talking every day. Every day, especially to the defense. You know, I like to get the defense mad. You know, I like it when they start arguing at me because it just makes them better.”

One thing that Bijan Robinson wanted to do this offseason was to improve as a vocal leader. By talking and using his voice at practice, he can call out players who need to perform better. At the same time, he does so in a way where everyone stays on the same page and understands that it comes from a good place.

“It’s all fun. They know my intentions. I’m gonna get in their butt a little bit–even on the offense. I get J Whit (Jordan Whittington), X (Xavier Worthy), all them. They already know they’re really talented–you know, Isaiah (Isaiah Neyor)–but, I still, when they drop a ball, I’m the first one on them, every single time. Even if the defense drops a pick or something, I’m in their faces. Just because, you know, I feel like when I do it with them, you know, we’re competing anyway.”

“So, it’s just all fun and it makes them better. It makes them want to think about what they did and then erase it and then get better in the future. So, I like to talk a little bit, just in practice, just to get my guys riled up,” Bijan Robinson concluded.
