The Texas Longhorns football team released a hype video via Twitter ahead of its Big 12 opener against Texas Tech on Saturday. The Longhorns and Red Raiders are set to square off against each other at 12 p.m. ET in Austin.

Texas began the season at No. 21 in the AP poll, but dropped out after a loss to Arkansas in Week 2. The Longhorns received 22 votes this past week, so it’s possible they could re-enter with a convincing win.

After starting Hudson Card in the first two games, coach Steve Sarkisian opted for Casey Thompson last week against Rice. The latter finished 15-of-18 passing for 164 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. Card completed 2-of-3 passes for 29 yards in a 58-0 blowout win.

Although Texas Tech is certainly much stiffer competition than Rice, history is on the Longhorns’ side. They hold a 53-17 advantage in the series and have won 10 of the past 12 meetings.

Texas Tech is still undefeated in the young season with victories against Houston, Stephen F. Austin and Florida Atlantic. Oregon transfer quarterback Tyler Shough leads the offense, which put up 54 points this past week.

With the Longhorns still working out their quarterback situation, running back Bijan Robinson will look to continue to put up big numbers. He has rushed for more than 100 yards in two of Texas’ three games thus far.

Texas has not won the Big 12 since 2009 despite a few top finishes. It is now on its fourth coach in that span as well. The Big 12 is still wide open, with most teams kicking off league play this week. Baylor actually sits at the top of the standings right now after defeating lowly Kansas, but that is sure to change soon.

The Longhorns have to win this weekend, and if they do it could be the beginning to getting this season back on track. As the Texas football hype video says, they set their own standard.
