2023 defensive back Calvin Simpson-Hunt commits to Texas Tech

Waxahachie (Texas) defensive back Calvin Simpson-Hunt has committed to Texas, he announced Monday on Twitter.

“I’d like to thank my mom for everything and my coaches for believing in me and investing in me daily,” Simpson-Hunt wrote. “I am honored to say that I am committed to Texas Tech University.”

The Red Raiders are Simpson-Hunt’s only reported offer to this point. Texas Tech’s new coaching staff extended the offer on Nov. 9, and Simpson-Hunt took an unofficial visit to Lubbock this weekend.

As a junior this season for Waxahachie, Calvin Simpson-Hunt has notched 29 tackles, including five for loss. He also has added one sack, a forced fumble and an interception.

He is the Red Raiders’ second commit of the 2023 class, joining Amarillo (Texas) offensive tackle Kaden Carr.
