Three-star Frisco (Texas) Reedy wide receiver Kaleb Smith has decommitted from Texas Tech, he announced on Friday afternoon.

Reedy is scheduled to take an official visit to Notre Dame this weekend, and he has become of the Fighting Irish’s top priorities at the wide receiver spot in at the end of the 2023 cycle.

“First off, I would like to thank Texas Tech University and Coach Mcguire for giving me an opportunity to continue playing the game I love at the next level and in an amazing program,” Smith wrote on Twitter. The family and culture out in Lubbock is crazy and that’s why I’ve been committed since February.. but the Lord has presented me with more opportunities to be great and I need to explore those without a doubt.

… After a lot of thought and talks with God,, I will be decommitting from Texas Tech University and making my recruitment 100% back open. I haven’t had a full recruit experience and really want to take it slow and make sure I do it the right way. Raider Nation it’s all love, thank you for believing in me.”

The 6-foot-1, 180-pounder is the No. 1341 overall prospect in the 2023 class, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He ranks as the nation’s No. 197 wide receiver and the No. 229 senior recruit in the state of Texas.

The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM) heavily favors the Fighting Irish to land Smith, giving them a 94.4 percent chance of securing his commitment.

As a senior this fall at Reedy, Smith has hauled in 40 catches for 629 yards and five touchdowns.
