Texas Tech offers in-state 2023 4-star EDGE Ashton Porter

Texas Tech has extended an offer to Cypress (Texas) Cy Ranch four-star EDGE Ashton Porter.

He announced the news Tuesday on Twitter, adding he received the offer from the Red Raiders linebackers coach Josh Bookbinder.

Porter is the No. 233 overall player in the 2023 recruiting class, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

He is also the No. 25 EDGE in the country and No. 39 prospect from the state of Texas.

Texas Tech will have tough competition if it hopes to land Porter, especially from in-state foes Texas, TCU and SMU.

The Longhorns will particularly be a tough team to beat, as Hudson Standish of Inside Texas wrote recently.

“Texas has made it abundantly clear that they’re higher than the consensus on the 6-foot-3 EDGE out of the greater Houston area. Porter was recently on campus for the #22Effect recruiting weekend and profiles as a potential early add to the 2023 class,” Standish wrote.
