A little less than a week after his unofficial visit to Texas Tech, Chris Palfreeman is ready to be a Red Raider. The Forth Worth (Texas) All Saints Episcopal wide receiver committed to Tech on Wednesday evening, announcing it on Twitter.

Palfreeman is the No. 789 overall prospect in the 2023 class, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He ranks as the nation’s No. 116 wide receiver and the No. 140 junior in the state of Texas.

The 5-foot-10, 160-pounder chose Texas Tech over offers from SMU, North Texas, Baylor, Arkansas and a handful others. He is the Red Raiders’ 15th commitment in the 2023 cycle, the highest of any Power Five program in the country. Tech’s class, headlined by a trio of four-star prospects, ranks No. 11 nationally in the On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings.

As a junior last season, his first playing primarily wide receiver, Chris Palfreeman hauled in 57 passes for 890 yards and four touchdowns. During his sophomore season in 2020, he split time at running back and wideout, totaling more than 1,250 all-purpose yards and 14 touchdowns.

He is also a standout on the track, with personal best of 10.54 in the 100 meters.
