Former California linebacker Femi Oladejo made the short trip down to Los Angeles to join the UCLA Bruins after entering the Transfer Portal earlier this offseason. The rising junior star is no stranger to west coast football and believes he’ll only continue to thrive under the new coaching staff. Per Oladejo himself, the Bruins’ coaches are intense, which is necessary to demand consistently out of the players. That all starts with the UCLA defensive coordinator, D’Anton Lynn, per Oladejo.

“I think just the level of intense they need to have the consistency that we need to have and how we’re practicing every day to set the tone, to come up fast and just win in anything and everything. So it’s been awesome getting to know him,” the linebacker said of his new DC.

Oladejo then went on to say that, for the most part, things aren’t that different for him compared to Cal. “Definitely similar but everything is great,” Oladejo said. “No complaints at all. Very grateful. I think I was able to adapt very well.”

UCLA head coach Chip Kelly also commented recently on the Bruins’ new defensive addition from the Golden Bears. He said Oladejo has put his head down and gone to work ever since he got on campus.

“Yeah, Femi’s been tremendous since we’ve been here. He’s got a great work ethic. He loves studying film,” Kelly said. “It always seems like he’s in our building doing something to make himself a better football player. So, his mindset has really fit in very well with that whole group.”

Kelly continued gushing about Femi Oladejo’s mindset and also complimented his incredible athletic traits.

“He’s obviously got some physical qualities that we really like,” Kelly said. “He’s tall, (and) he’s long, covers a lot of space in a short amount of time; he’s got really good movement skills for a guy that big, can get into a lot of passing lanes and disrupt some things because of his length. But I really just think it’s his work ethic and his mindset that have been really, really impressive so far since he got here in January.”

Sounds like UCLA nabbed a real difference-maker on defense via the portal.
