National Signing Day brings some crazy stories across the country with recruits making big-time commitments or flipping from one school to another. However, this one might be the most unreal, and cruel, story of them all.

Jacob Allen, a 2022 outside linebacker out of First Baptist Academy in Naples, Florida, sent out a warning to fellow recruits that there is a fake UCLA Bruins coach sending out offers. He sent out a warning and exposed the number claiming to work for the Bruins.

“Just to spread awareness, a fake UCLA coach is offering kids,” Allen said via Twitter on Sunday. “I was one of them. I can’t believe someone would actually do this to guys who have worked so hard for their dreams. It’s unfortunate and heartbreaking but God is good and has a plan.”

According to Bruin Report Online, UCLA is “doing what it can to lessen the damage and identify the fake coach perpetrator. “

Obviously, this is a cruel act from the fake coach, making Allen think he had an offer from a high-level Division I program. Sadly, it seems as if more than just one recruit was affected.

In the original tweet, Allen tagged Trace Williams, a 2022 wide receiver from Belle Chasse, LA. After a UCLA fan apologized for the incident, Williams responded by saying the fake coach is just trying to mess with the pair of prospects.

“I appreciate the apology but I’m pretty sure it’s someone that’s more worried about getting entertainment from toying with our emotions & not caring about our reputations that are going to stick with us, I highly doubt it’s about the university or that UCLA would even care at all,” Williams said.

National signing day will be a special one for a lot of prospects, with many completing their dream to play football at the collegiate level. An incident like this puts a damper on what should be an awesome event.
