Thanks to the number of transfers that head coach Lincoln Riley brought to USC, this was the first season many players like Caleb Williams and Jordan Addison were a part of the UCLA and Notre Dame rivalry games. This season, against talented opponents while USC has been trying to make the College Football Playoff, the rivalry games took on even more importance.

Following the win over Notre Dame, Jordan Addison was asked about playing USC’s two big rivals in back-to-back weeks.

“I’d say both of the rivalries are legit rivalries,” Jordan Addison said.

“You could feel the energy everywhere. The fans. Everything about it is just college football.”

It’s probably smart of Jordan Addison not to choose which rivalry is more important to USC. That’s a good way to end up in a minor controversy. However, given his personal performance, it would be easy to imagine that Addison preferred his experience against UCLA.

The game against UCLA was played at the Rose Bowl. In that game, Addison had 11 catches for 178 yards and a touchdown. It was, arguably, the best performance he had all season. Against, Notre Dame, which was a home game in the LA Memorial Coliseum, he only had three receptions for 45 yards.

After winning these two rivalry games, USC will move on to the PAC-12 Championship Game. There, the Trojans will take on the Utah Utes. It’s a rematch of the only game USC lost this season. Given USC’s ranking in the most recent College Football Playoff rankings, a win would clinch a spot in the Playoff.

Jordan Addison praised Caleb Williams

Following the Notre Dame game, which saw quarterback Caleb Williams flash the Heisman Trophy pose, Jordan Addison praised his quarterback’s play.

“The bigger the stage is, the bigger he’s gonna play. He brings it every day, every week in practice. And he just shows up every Saturday,” Jordan Addison said.

It’s expected that Caleb Williams will be invited to New York for the Heisman ceremony. He is currently the Vegas favorite to win the award by a wide margin. If he has a big game in the PAC-12 Championship Game, he will secure the award for himself.
