Lincoln Riley provided an update following an injury sustained by USC freshman defensive back Zion Branch. According to Riley, Brand suffered a “lower extremity injury” while training on Monday.

In a statement on Twitter released overnight, the Trojans coach provided some insight.

“Zion suffered a lower extremity injured during an offseason workout on Monday,” revealed Riley. “I’m confident he will attack the rehab process with full force and a strong mindset.

“Zion has been extremely impressive during our summer workouts and has shown us that he is primed for a tremendous career at USC. We look forward to having him back on the field.”

Moreover, Branch was a highly-touted member of USC’s 2022 recruiting class, as Branch chose the Trojans over programs like Ohio State. A four-star safety and No. 60 overall prospect in the country, it looks like the Trojans will have to wait for his debut, as no timetable was given for a return.

Nevertheless, its evident Zion Branch impressed Lincoln Riley during his time on campus. Hopefully he can get back on the field sooner rather than later, and begin to do so once again.

LenDale White predicts quick return to glory for USC under Lincoln Riley

On a more positive note, former Trojan running back LenDale White was part of some of the greatest college football teams of all-time during his days of suiting up with the Trojans. He shared the same field with such legends as Reggie Bush and Matt Leinart.

White was a very prolific player in his own right during his time with the USC Trojans. After three seasons, he set the program record for career rushing touchdowns with 52.

Recently, the former Trojan great spoke with Keely Eure to talk about his predictions for USC’s new head football coach, Lincoln Riley.

“It feels good to be back home. It’s a special feeling right now around this place. Lincoln [Riley] and [Mike Bohn] (USC Athletics Director) have done a great job of building some excitement around here. And it’s good to be back. And it feels like real Trojan ball right now,” White said.

White spoke in-depth about why he feels like it’s starting to feel like real Trojan football.

“Just seeing the fans. Seeing our coaching staff. Just knowing the importance of what we have ahead of us right now. And I feel like the coaching staff is doing a great job trying to get the best players here and we’re trying to turn it around ASAP. I don’t think it’s going to be a long [time to rebuild the program]. I feel like it’s gonna be a couple of years and we’ll be right back where we need to be,” White said.
