Even though USC is still searching for its next head coach, the Trojans are pushing forward with official visits and new scholarship offers. One of their top remaining SoCal targets is consensus four-star linebacker David Bailey of Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei.

The 6-foot-3, 220-pounder will be on his official visit this weekend to USC this weekend, according to WeAreSC’s Scott Schrader. 247 Sports’ Greg Biggins was first to report the visit.

USC has always been a school high on Bailey’s list, but he wasn’t sure if he was going to visit the local school because he’d been on campus a number of times.

Bailey already visited Cal on June 12, Stanford on June 25 and UCLA on Oct. 2. A trip to Oregon is also in the works, but he’s not officially scheduled it yet with the Duck coaches.

Intel indicates USC and Stanford are Bailey’s top two schools.

David Bailey a dominating defender

David Bailey ranks as the No. 144 player in the 2022 On300. He is a consensus four-star prospect that ranks as the No. 5 player in California and the No. 8 linebacker in the country.

He’s become the anchor of the defense for the No. 1 ranked high school team in the country. Through seven games, Bailey has already racked up 11 tackles for a loss.

David Bailey is also coming off a monster game this past weekend against top-10 nationally ranked Anaheim (Calif.) Servite. In the game against the Friars, he was all over the field and recorded the biggest sack of the night.

And David Bailey did it with Stanford coach David Shaw watching in attendance.
