Vicksburg (Miss.) four-star defensive lineman Caleb Bryant has decommitted from Utah. He announced the news over social media.

Bryant is the No. 469 overall prospect and No. 52 defensive lineman in the 2023 On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also a three-star recruit and the No. 7 player in Mississippi.

On3 rates him even higher. Despite not being ranked in the 2023 On300, Bryant is the No. 41 defensive lineman and No. 6 player in Mississippi, according to On3.

“I Am Verbally Decommitting From The University of Utah,” Bryant wrote. “My Recruitment Is Now 100% Open.”

The Utes have received Bryant’s only official visit of his recruiting process. He visited Salt Lake City on June 17.

A 6-foot-4, 250 pound prospect, Bryant was previously the fifth-highest-ranked recruit in the Utes’ 2023 recruiting class. Utah’s group currently contains 12 commitments and ranks No. 38 in the 2023 On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings.

Following Bryant’s decommitment, Utah now has one defensive lineman committed in Houston (Texas) C.E. King three-star Jo’Laison Landry. The Utes’ highest-rated prospect is Freeport (Texas) Brazosport three-star safety Randon Fontenette, the No. 382 overall prospect in the On3 Consensus.

Bryant is considering programs including USC and Nebraska

Bryant recently picked up an offer from USC. He told WeAreSC that he plans to visit the Trojans during the fall.

Other programs who have extended offers to Bryant include Miami, Nebraska and Oregon. Bryant told On3’s Bryan Munson that he plans to take an official visit to the Cornhuskers this fall. He added that he is building a strong relationship with running backs coach Bryan Applewhite.

“I talked to coach Bryan Applewhite when Nebraska offered and I am super excited to take a visit to Nebraska,” Bryant told Munson in July. “I am interested in their offer and look forward to seeing how the environment is there.”

Bryant has an On3 NIL Valuation of $5.5K. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
