2024 QB Davi Belfort commits to Virginia Tech
Three-star quarterback Davi Belfort of Fort Lauderdale (FL) Gulliver Prep announced his commitment to Virginia Tech Wednesday night.
The 6-foot-0, 185 pounder chose the Hokies over Texas A&M and Michigan State.
Belfort on why he chose Virginia Tech
“Family means everything to me and that coaching staff feels like family,” Belfort said. “I had an amazing relationship with each coach on the staff. Ever since the first time I stepped foot on VT campus I knew that’s where I was going to go. They have been recruiting me super hard for over a year. They want me to be the guy that leads the class. And ultimately they did everything they could to land me. I can’t wait to make history there for the next 3-4 years and help bring a national championship to Blacksburg!”
Relationship with coaching staff stood out + their plan for Belfort
“I would say Coach Pry, Coach Bowen, and Coach Crist,” Belfort said. “I love all 3 of them. They are great coaches and great people. They think I fit their offense perfectly and they said as soon as I step on campus I will get a chance to compete for the job. And they have been saying all along that they know I can help them bring Virginia Tech back to the top of college football.”
What it means to be first D1 born Brazilian
“I was born in Brazil and lived there for six years. It means the world to me to be able to represent my country doing what I love to do. It’s just a great opportunity to show kids in my country that anything is possible when you believe in God and when you put your mind to it. I am beyond grateful to God for putting me in this position I am in today. And I know it is just the beginning of the chapter.”
The Sunshine state quarterback is the first commitment in coach Pry and the Hokies’ 2024 class. He was primarily recruited by Virginia Tech’s quarterback coach and offensive coordinator, Tyler Bowen.
Belfort ranks as the No. 596 player in the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He also tabs in as the No. 33 quarterback and the No. 82 player in the state of Florida.
