Virginia Tech had a frustrating 2022 season as the Hokies finished 3-8 overall and 1-6 in ACC play. It was Brent Pry’s first season in the saddle but, with the new 3-3-5 conference scheduling model officially in place, many in Blacksburg will expect better in his second go around.

Now, they have their official path towards doing so after their 2023 schedule was announced on the ACC Network’s special tonight. To open, the Hokies will look for revenge on their home field against an Old Dominion squad that knocked them off 20-17 last season.

Virginia Tech Football’s 2023 Schedule

After opening against the Monarchs, they’ll follow that up with a pair of matchups against the Big Ten. Those will come at home against Purdue, who competed for their conference title last season, and on the road against Rutgers.

Following a road trip to Huntington to face off with Marshall, Virginia Tech will then open its ACC schedule, new format and all, inside Lane Stadium against Pittsburgh and their new, yet familiar, quarterback in Phil Jurkovec.

The Hokies will then hit the road to face an ACC favorite in Florida State, return home to host Wake Forest, and then enter a well-placed bye week around the middle of their campaign.

Coming out of the bye week, they’ll get a Thursday night matchup at home to open Week 9 against Syracuse. Once Virginia Tech reaches Week 10, they’ll start to wrap up by hitting the road. That means a trip to Louisville to face new head coach Jeff Brohm and to play Boston College in Massachusetts. The Hokies will then end their home schedule against a quality NC State team.

Finally, after the Commonwealth Cup was canceled in 2022, the series will resume in 2023 in Charlottesville. Although the Hokies have won 17 of the last 18 matchups, this edition will mean that much more for both sides considering why last season’s game had to be missed.
