We may only be in the month of November but college basketball is already producing some special moments. The latest came from Wake Forest‘s Tyree Appleby, who hit a game-winning shot from deep against Utah Valley on Tuesday night.

It’s a play that may look familiar to those in the state of North Carolina, with a baseball pass being thrown from the opposite baseline. Instead of the player catching the ball, turning and shooting, he was able to get a pass off. Appleby was able to catch and shoot, sinking the game-winning three.

Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum was then sent into pandemonium, celebrating a 3-0 start to the season. And for Appleby, a transfer from Florida, it’s a great way to introduce yourself to the Wake Forest faithful.

You can watch the full moment here.

Appleby was the leading scorer across both teams, with his 23rd point going down as the overtime buzzer expired. In fact, it was his only made three-point attempt of the night, missing his previous five. A lot of points were executed at the free throw line, making 12 of 14 from the stripe.

More on Wake Forest, Tyree Appleby

With the buzzer beater, Wake Forest is off to a strong 3-0 start. A win over Georgia was a solid one over an SEC program, with two other matchups against lesser teams also there. It’s Year Three under head coach Steve Forbes, where they will want to be making the NCAA Tournament for the first time after an NIT appearance a year ago.

As for Appleby, he was brought into the program after spending time with the Florida Gators. He left once Mike White was fired and in fact, got a win against his old head coach when Wake Forest took down Georiga.
