Georgetown (Ky.) Great Crossing three-star EDGE Oryend Fisher has committed to West Virginia. He chose the Mountaineers over multiple programs including KentuckyLouisvilleMemphis and Vanderbilt.

Fisher is ranked as the No. 927 overall prospect and No. 75 EDGE in the 2023 On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 9 player in Kentucky.

On3 rates Fisher higher than other recruiting services, according to the Industry Comparison. Despite not being ranked in the 2023 On300, Fisher is the No. 50 EDGE and No. 1 player in Kentucky.

West Virginia’s 2023 recruiting class now contains 18 commitments. Fisher is the group’s third EDGE commit alongside Voorhees (N.J.) St. Joseph’s Prep School three-star James Heard and Morgantown (W.V.) University three-star Noah Braham.

Prior to Fisher’s pledge, the Mountaineers’ class ranked No. 35 in the 2023 On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings and No. 6 in the Big 12. The group is led by Uniontown (Penn.) Laurel Highlands four-star wide receiver Rodney Gallagher, the No. 191 overall prospect in the On3 Consensus.

Fisher, who took an official visit to Morgantown on June 23, is West Virginia’s first pledge of September. Last month, the Mountaineers received one commitment from Erie (Penn.) Harbor Creek Christian School three-star offensive tackle Nick Krahe. They also received one pledge in July from Rock Hill (S.C.) Northwestern three-star wide receiver Elijah Caldwell.

However, June was a big month on the recruiting trail for head coach Neal Brown and his staff. West Virginia earned 11 commitments, with multiple pledges coming from top-600 prospects. That list includes Heard, Covington (Ga.) Newton three-star defensive lineman Justin Benton, Fairfield (Ohio) three-star athlete Jordan Jackson and Macon (Ga.) Northeast three-star offensive tackle Johnny Williams IV.

Fisher has an On3 NIL Valuation of $6K. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
