Duncan (S.C.) Spartanburg three-star quarterback Raheim Jeter has decommited from West Virginia. He announced the news over social media.

Jeter is the No. 873 overall prospect and the No. 43 quarterback in the 2023 On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 11 player in South Carolina.

The 6-foot-3, 225 pound signal-caller committed to the Mountaineers on Dec. 20, 2021. Now, he is departing a recruiting class that is ranked No. 32 in the 2023 On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings and No. 6 in the Big 12. West Virginia, who has no quarterback committed in the 2023 cycle after Jeter’s decision, currently has 17 commitments. Only Uniontown (Penn.) Laurel Highlands four-star wide receiver Rodney Gallagher is rated as a four-star recruit.

Gallagher is not only the Mountaineers’ only top-200 recruit, but also one of three top-500 prospects alongside Covington (Ga.) Newton defensive lineman Justin Benton and Philadelphia (Penn.) St. Joseph’s three-star linebacker Josiah Trotter.

The only trip Jeter has made since his commitment was an official visit to West Virginia on June 24. However, he took unofficial visits to Kentucky, Miami, Penn State and South Carolina. Jeter currently holds 10 offers from programs including Auburn and Georgia.

According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, South Carolina has a 15.2% chance to land Jeter’s commitment, while Kentucky has the next-best odds at 13%. West Virginia still leads on the RPM at 64.8%.

RPM was released to the public in December. The On3 engineering group teamed up with Spiny.ai to create the industry’s first algorithm and machine learning-based product to predict where athletes will attend college.

It factors in machine learning, social sentiment, visits and historical trends. However, expert predictions are still a big piece of the RPM equation.

Jeter has an On3 NIL Valuation of $11.7K. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
