After playing three seasons at Iowa, guard Joe Toussaint has made his decision on where he’ll be playing in 2022-2023. As announced on his Twitter page on Monday, Toussaint has made the move to West Virginia and will be suiting up for Hall of Fame head coach Bob Huggins and the Mountaineers next season.

“God’s timing,” Toussaint wrote in his tweet, which was accompanied with a short video. “Morgantown we here! 110% COMMITTED.”

Toussaint makes the move to West Virginia after averaging 4.3 points, 1.7 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game for Iowa last season while shooting 42.3% from the field. Toussaint’s best game of the year came in a win over Alabama State on Nov. 18, when he scored 11 points and dished out 11 assists.

A former On3 Consensus three-star recruit out of the Class of 2019, Toussaint joins a West Virginia team that went 16-17 overall in 2021-2022 and missed out on the NCAA Tournament.

Toussaint visited with Mountaineers over the weekend

Former Iowa point guard Joe Toussaint, who recently entered the transfer portal, visited West Virginia over the weekend, according to CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein. The junior started 21 of 36 games this past season to bring him to 41 career starts in 98 games with the Hawkeyes.

For the 2021-22 season, Toussaint averaged 4.3 points, 3.2 assists and 1.7 rebounds to help lead Iowa to an NCAA Tournament berth and Big Ten championship before entering the NCAA Transfer Portal. Over his career, the New York native has averaged 4.8 points, but shot just 27.7% from the three-point line.

In addition to his West Virginia visit, Jon Rothstein also reported that Toussaint had received interest from Seton Hall and new head coach Shaheen Holloway, but the guard has ultimately decided to take his talents to Morgantown.
