West Virginia football unveils new jersey for 2025 season
West Virginia has unveiled some awesome throwback uniforms ahead of the 2025 season. The Mountaineers are entering a new era with Rich Rodriguez in charge once again, and they’ll be doing so with some serious swagger.
Check them out below, as the program posted a hype video on social media for the new threads. It hasn’t been revealed when these beauties will hit the field, but fans will be clamoring for it to be sooner rather than later, for sure.
As you can tell, the uniforms are a throwback to the program’s 1965 team. It’s perfect for 2025, as it’ll mark the 60th anniversary for the uniform that the team donned back then. Additionally, it’s the first time in West Virginia’s history that they have a true, complete throwback uniform.
This season was already going to be an exciting one for West Virginia, and they continue to take steps towards making it even more interesting. The Mountaineers have big dreams inside the Big 12, and we’ll see if they can get the job done on the field.

Meanwhile, West Virginia has been active in the NCAA Transfer Portal, especially in the past couple of weeks. They’ve added a slew of players, like former Oklahoma offensive lineman Josh Aisosa, former Jacksonville State wide receiver Jordan McCants, former SMU running back Jaylan Knighton, former UNLV linebacker John Lewis, former Akron cornerback Darrian Lewis and former Tennessee offensive lineman Ayden Bussell.

All in all, West Virginia has added 47 players via the portal, while losing 41. They’re ranked No. 57 in the On3 Transfer Portal Team Rankings, which utilizes the On3 (P)erformance score to measure a team’s production during the transfer process.
It compared their additions and subtractions relative against its roster, not against other schools. This proprietary algorithm determines if a school has improved its overall team talent, stayed the same, or declined in talent during the transfer window.
Time will tell how these players pan out for the Mountaineers. One thing is for sure, there’s a ton of hype behind West Virginia for the 2025 season. We’ll see if they live up to it.
