As a College Recruit

State champion as a junior out of newly built Katy Paetow (TX) who ravaged opposing quarterbacks and ball carriers all season with his outstanding athleticism and field vision. Totaled 91 tackles with a staggering 26 tackles for loss and 13 sacks during his junior season. Plays with his hand in the dirt off the edge and off the ball as a stand-up backer. Ruthless blitzer who wins with his twitch and bend. Comfortable in space and changing direction. Light on his feet and can fly to the football. Stands in at 6-foot-2, 205 pounds with a wingspan of 6-foot-4 and a 9.5-inch hand. Explosive at the point of contact and blows up ball carriers. Jumped an eye-popping 37.5-inch vertical during the summer camp circuit prior to his senior season. Will need to trigger a bit quicker but it will come with more reps at inside backer. Immense upside and NFL potential.

Daymion Sanford impresses in Week 1 debut

Sam SpiegelmanNational Recruiting Analyst

Daymion Sanford was one of the camp-season standouts after clocking a 4.55-second 40 time in Tuscaloosa and then among the top performers from LSU’s elite camp in June. If not for the presence of a five-star difference-maker like Davud Hicks on the Paetow defense, Sanford could’ve went off in the opener against Conroe. He was in the backfield early and often, opening the game with a sack, finishing unofficially with two, and putting countless pops on the quarterback or defending the line of scrimmage. That sideline-to-sideline speed is wildly evident flying off the edge or countering outside runs.

Daymion Sanford shows athleticism at LSU's camp

Charles Power

Linebacker Daymion Sanford has been on a tear this camp season, racking up offers from Texas, Texas A&M and Alabama in June prior to heading to Baton Rouge for LSU's camp. The offers are in large part due to the athleticism that Sanford has shown in the camp setting this month. That was also the case on Friday at LSU, with Sanford putting up some very impressive testing numbers, including a 4.5 second 40-yard dash at around 6-foot-2, 205 pounds. We saw the Houston area defender move well in field work, as well. Sanford was smooth in his drops and made a play in coverage in 7-on-7.
