As a College Recruit

One of the more dynamic and well-rounded wide receiver prospects in several cycles. An elite athlete with outstanding marks in multiple events in track and field. Transfers that athleticism over to the gridiron, where he is the top big-play threat in the 2022 cycle. Has palpable gravity as a deep threat. Eats up the corner's cushion with his burst off the line and puts defensive backs out of phase consistently on vertical routes. Draws substantial attention from opposing defenses and beats double coverage at a high rate. Has shown plus ball skills in game and camp settings with the ability to come down with acrobatic high-point catches. Improved his route-running between his junior and senior seasons and is now among the more technically-refined receivers in the cycle. Will need to continue adding mass and strength to combat physical corners off the line of scrimmage. Opted out of his senior season after playing in four games.

For starters Evan Stewart and Odell Beckham Jr. have similar athletic backgrounds. Both played soccer growing up and have mothers who were track athletes. While Beckham added significant size at LSU, both were 5-foot-11 and in the 160-170 pound range as high school prospects. Stewart’s change of direction, overall athleticism and ability to make acrobatic grabs also remind us of Beckham. The Texas A&M signee is more of an accomplished track athlete at the high school level, though Beckham was no slouch in that regard.

Scouting Journal

Evan Stewart a top performer at Under Armour All-America Game

Charles Power•

Evan Stewart entered the week as the No. 1 wide receiver in the cycle and looked the part. He was the toughest cover among a loaded receiver group all week at practice. The 5-foot-11, 170-pounder uses his outstanding initial and releases off the line to create immediate separation. Stewart also has some of the best long speed in the cycle, which he used to pull away from almost every defensive back he went against throughout the week. Stewart had a relatively quiet game with two drops including one that was looking into the sun. With that said, he still got behind the Team Legends secondary on several occasions. Stewart may have had a few touchdowns had the Team Icons quarterbacks hit him in stride. The Texas A&M signee has the best combination of explosive athleticism and technical receiver skills in what is a loaded cycle at the position.

Evan Stewart opts out of remainder of senior season

Charles Power•

Five-star wide receiver Evan Stewart announced he is forgoing the remainder of his senior season. He released the news on Twitter. Stewart was off to a strong start to his senior season with 414 receiving yards and three touchdowns along with 70 rushing yards and another score in 3 games. The blue-chip receiver had made a number of high-level plays, looking like the nation's No. 1 wide receiver prospect in the process. It remains to be seen if we'll see Stewart on the all-star circuit after the season.
