H.S. Scouting Summary

Wide-bodied, nimble mover who is excelling in his first season as a full-time offensive lineman. Works at right tackle for IMG, but likely projects on the interior due to his arm length and build. Played very well against a national schedule and some top pass rushers as a junior. Uses his natural strength to create a big push in the run game. Plays with a wide base and has considerable pop in his hands. Has mauling qualities as a drive blocker and is athletic enough to get to the second level with ease. Though he doesn’t project as an offensive tackle long-term, showed some very encouraging skills in pass protection.

Ranking Evaluation

Francis Mauigoa was the lone new five-star prospect in the On300 update in April 2022. Mauigoa has long been considered a top prospect in the cycle, breaking onto the national radar as a freshman defensive tackle at San Bernardino (Calif.) Aquinas. He’s since transferred to IMG and has blossomed into a top offensive lineman. We saw Mauigoa star for IMG in his first full year at offensive tackle. He manned the right tackle spot for the Ascenders and opened up some big holes for one of the nation’s top high school teams.

A well-proportioned 6-foot-5.5 and 330 pounds, Mauigoa combines ready-made size with top-shelf quickness. He’s very light on his feet on Friday nights and makes projectable plays as blocker at the second level. We see the elite quickness in the camp setting as well — Mauigoa recently ran a blistering 4.5-second short shuttle at ESPN’s Underclassman Camp in Orlando. Mauigoa’s ability to move at his size stands out in what looks like a very strong cycle along the offensive line.

Francis Mauigoa impresses against top pass rusher
Charles Power

Francis Mauigoa and IMG Academy took on American Heritage who touts top pass rusher, Marvin Jones Jr. The California native manned the right tackle spot for IMG. He likely projects inside long term but showed well on the edge. Mauigoa was matched up with Jones for much of the night and held his own. He had a few nice position blocks that created some nice holes.
