As a College Recruit

Taller defensive back with high-end coordination and ball skills. Does not have verified measurements, but looks to be around 6-foot-2 with a lean build and length for the position. Primarily played cornerback as a sophomore and junior before playing more safety as a senior. Could project as a safety long-term. Advanced as a ball tracker at corner with the ability to turn and locate the ball in coverage. High-end ball production with 10 combined interceptions as a junior and senior. An instinctual defender who sees things quickly. Has also lined up at receiver and even took some direct snaps as a junior. Showed playmaking ability as a return man. Did not give up many catches in coverage over the course of his high school career. Will need to continue adding mass and strength to aid as a run defender. Does not have verified athletic markers. Looks to have adequate to good play speed but can continue improving his top end speed.

A big cornerback who may project at safety long-term, Jahlil Hurley's frame and versatile coverage skills as a potential deep safety remind us of Kenny Phillips.

Jahlil Hurley a top performer at Overtime OT7

Charles Power

Jahlil Hurley was rock solid all weekend at OT7. He didn’t have as many opportunities as Malik Muhammad on Sunday, given his team was eliminated in the first round, but we still saw the Alabama commit flash while covering top receivers. Hurley surrendered very few completions that we saw. He looks to be a legitimate 6-foot-2 and has added some weight. The Florence (Ala.) High product mirrors receivers well and looks to have good instincts in coverage. He was very good in confided spaces, where he could use his size and length to his advantage. We saw some of the skills on display on Sunday, when Hurley was guarding Carnell Tate. The touted wide receiver went for a double move, but Hurley was not fooled and stayed in-phase.

Hurley’s frame (6-foot-3, 185 pounds) is ready for Saturdays now and he’s so fluid quietly locking down part of the field. Hurley was rarely tested but stepped up when action was headed in his direction. Alabama is getting a prototype at the position.
