As a College Recruit

Highly athletic, versatile edge defender who is an impact player on the most talented defense in high school football. Pairs high-end athleticism with positional versatility. Among the more athletic players on IMG Academy’s roster, clocking an electronically-timed 4.52 second 40-yard dash prior to his senior season. Plays as a rushing linebacker for IMG and has made the most splash plays on a defense that is two-deep with blue-chip prospects. Consistently wins as a pass rusher off the edge due to his first-step quickness and bend. Also has the ability to drop into space and play in coverage. Previously played off-the-ball at his high school in New Jersey, prior to transferring to IMG. Plays with high-energy both in practices and in games. Always shows up to compete, regardless of the setting. Will need to fill out his 6-foot-3, 210 pound frame to be a full-time EDGE at the next level.

We see some of Bud Dupree in Jihaad Campbell due to the similarities in frame, athleticism and projected positional progression. Dupree began his career as a 220-pound off-ball linebacker before ultimately growing into a 265-pound, athletic edge rusher. We would not be surprised to see Campbell take a similar path.

Jihaad Campbell a top performer at Under Armour All-America Game

Charles Power

Jihaad Campbell showed off legitimate positional versatility, working at both linebacker and EDGE at times in practice. The Alabama signee was among the more physically-impressive prospects in attendance and was the best linebacker throughout practice, in our opinion. Campbell looks to be a legitimate 6-foot-3.5 and has the athleticism and fluidity to play in space. He flipped over to EDGE during 1-on-1’s in practice and looked very good there as well. We saw the New Jersey native was one of Team Icons’ most active players in the game and had a nice open field tackle in the first half. Campbell looked like one of the better defensive prospects nationally over the course of the week.

Jihaad Campbell shows athleticism in making splash play

Clemson EDGE commit Jihaad Campbell continued to show off his length and range against Cincinnati (Ohio) La Salle. He tracked down four-star Cincinnati running back commit Gi'Bran Payne from the backside. Campbell is off to a fast start in 2021.
