As a College Recruit

Disruptive defensive linemen with one of the best first steps in the 2023 cycle with explosive physicality. Consistently fires off the snap. Bursts into the backfield with his first-step quickness as a pass rusher. Also has considerable speed-to-power ability, at times forklifting offensive linemen into the backfield. Plays with strong leverage and pad level. Highly physical, embracing and dishing out contact. A violent finisher with striking power. Blows up plays with his twitch and physicality. Dogged defender in pursuit, tracking down plays from the back side. Finished his senior season with 25 tackles for loss, 10 sacks and two interceptions. Does not stick out physically in terms of stature or length relative to some of his other highly-rated peers at the position, measuring at 6-foot-2.5, 275 pounds with a 32.5-inch arm prior to his senior season.

Stephiylan Green all over the field in season opening win

Charles Power

Stephiylan Green was all over the field in his Rome (Ga.) High team’s 16-6 win over Fairburn (Ga.) Creekside on Friday night. The Clemson pledge’s high effort level was palpable and jumped off the screen on a snap-to-snap basis. Green was highly active and had a profound effect on the game’s outcome. He broke through the line to force a safety in the first half. He sniffed out a screen en route to a pass break up. He generated pressure that forced a late interception and forced another pick earlier that was negated due to a penalty. Green also had a number of additional pressures and made second effort plays in pursuit downfield.

Stephiylan Green a spring riser

Charles Power

Stephiylan Green had a strong junior season, racking up over 20 tackles for loss and around 10 sacks. He’s parlayed that level of play into the spring. The Rome (Ga.) High standout has generated considerable buzz with his play in practices pairing quickness and violent finishing ability behind the line of scrimmage. He’s a physical, disruptive presence on the interior.
