As a College Recruit

A productive, polished passer. Has good arm strength with the ability to fit the football into tight windows. Sticks the ball on receivers on out-breaking routes. Was among the most productive and efficient passers in the 2022 cycle as a junior en route to leading his team to a state title. Operates one of the more up-tempo high school offenses we’ve seen. Performs well in tight games and big spots. Lost much of his supporting cast to graduation as a senior and has been forced to make more second-reaction plays while working off script. Has quick feet and registers as a good athlete at the position with a 4.63 second 40-yard dash and 4.22 second shuttle. Shorter than other top quarterbacks at a shade over 6-feet.

Walker Howard has huge outing in return from injury

Charles Power

Walker Howard was 28 of 43 for 509 yards and six touchdowns in leading his Lafayette (La.) St. Thomas More team to a 62-60 win over LaPlace (La.) East St. John. The game marked Howard’s return after missing the previous five weeks with a fractured fibula. You wouldn’t know Howard was coming back from an injury based on how he moved and played. The top 100 passer made several off-platform throws, including one across his body that went for a touchdown in the first half.

Walker Howard leads team to last-second win

Charles Power

Walker Howard carried St. Thomas More to a last second win over Monroe (La.) Neville, outdoing a Herculean rushing day from TCU commit Ajay Allen. Howard was under constant duress, but still managed to make a bunch of individual plays. He was accurate as a passer despite his receivers not being able to make some plays. Howard led a game-winning drive, throwing a touchdown in the game's final seconds. He also made a number of plays with his feet, including an impressive touchdown run at the end of the first quarter, to put St. Thomas More on the board. Howard finished 27 of 40 for 354 yards and three touchdowns (zero interceptions. He rushed for 49 yards and two touchdowns – a total that would be higher if you took out several sacks. Howard has to do much more individual playmaking this season as opposed to the past. Long-term, this is likely beneficial to his development.
