Patrick Mahomes gifts Texas Tech softball team custom gear ahead of WCWS final

As Texas Tech got ready for Game 1 of the Women’s College World Series final, one of its biggest fans made sure the Red Raiders dressed for the occasion. Patrick Mahomes sent the program gear prior to first pitch against Texas.
Mahomes sent each player a letterman jacket, topped with an adidas logo and their number. The Red Raiders also each received adidas SL 72 sneakers as part of the package, as well.
Texas Tech coach Gerry Glasco also said Mahomes is trying to make the trip to Oklahoma City at some point during the WCWS final to watch NiJaree Canady and Co. take on Texas. However, the Kansas City Chiefs star wanted the players to get their gear before Game 1 so they were set for the week at Devon Park.
“You got a gift from your No. 1 fan, Patrick Mahomes,” Glasco told the team. “The goal is he’s trying to get here in-person before this series is over. But he said to go ahead and give you this tonight. He wants to be sure that you get it.”
Throughout Texas Tech’s road to the WCWS final, Mahomes has been watching and sharing his reactions on X. While he’s not there in-person for Wednesday night’s opener, his presence is still being felt on the program.

Canady is part of “Team Mahomes” through an NIL deal with adidas. It was a high-profile deal after she signed an agreement worth more than $1 million with the Red Raiders-focused NIL collective, The Matador Club.
Canady joined Red Raiders athletes such as Micah Hudson and Jasmine Shavers as part of “Team Mahomes” this year. It’s part of the Kansas City Chiefs star’s plan to give back to his alma mater as part of his partnership with adidas.
“The energy around this partnership has been incredible, and this announcement shows just how important this is to me, adidas and Texas Tech,” Mahomes said in the August announcement. “Adidas has been a collaborative partner from the start, and we worked together to select athletes who are among the best and embody the drive and dedication we’re looking for in a Team Mahomes athlete. We’ve got a lot of great stuff coming up for the Red Raiders – stay tuned for more.”
Patrick Mahomes’ support for his alma mater includes other programs, too. The football team wore uniforms with his “Gladiator” logo on them during the 2024 season, and the baseball team unveiled a “Baseball Strategy” uniform in partnership with the star quarterback.
