North Carolina High School Football Rankings: Top 25 Teams - Dec. 1
The 2025 North Carolina high school football season is about to end as some of the state’s best teams are about to compete in the state championship games. Before the final games of the year, here’s how Massey ranked the top squads from the Tarheel State.
The Massey Ratings system, officially used during the BCS era, is a model that ranks sports teams by analyzing game outcomes, the strength of their schedule, and the margin of victory.
1. William Amos Hough Huskies
The Huskies remain undefeated after 13 games after shutting down West Charlotte in the 2025 North Carolina high school football Class 8A state semifinals. William Amos Hough can complete a perfect season by defeating Millbrook in the championship game on December 11.
2. Providence Day School Chargers
The Chargers completed a perfect 13-0 after defeating Charlotte Christian in the NCISAA Division I championship. Through 13 games, Providence Day School allowed only four opponents to score in double digits.
3. Weddington Warriors
The Warriors are on an 11-game winning streak after defeating Independence in the North Carolina high school football Class 7A state quarterfinals. Weddington can stretch their streak to 12 with a victory against Grimsley in the state semifinals on December 5.
4. Grimsley Whirlies
After a 7-7 tie, the Whirlies scored 17 unanswered points to defeat Reagan in the fourth round of the Class 7A state playoffs. That victory sets up Grimsley’s showdown with Weddington in the state semifinals on December 5.

5. Millbrook Wildcats
The Wildcats are now at 13-0 after a 14-7 victory over Hoggard in the Class 8A state semifinals. Millbrook scored 13 points in the third quarter, courtesy of Brilison McCullers’ two rushing touchdowns. The Wildcats will face Hough in the state championship game on December 11.
