Tennessee High School Football Rankings: Top 25 Teams - October 21st
With two games left in the regular season, On3’s Massey Ratings have been updated again in the state of Tennessee.
With several teams still coming off of fall break, there were only two swaps for spots within the Top-10. However, that didn’t apply to the ranking as a whole with every team but one shifts in slots from No. 11 to No. 25. That included two new additions to the rating as of this morning.
With that, Tennessee will have some highly-rated matchups on Friday. Five games will be played between teams in the Top-25, including four between those in the Top-15 and two against those in the Top-10.
Here’s how the latest looks today in Tennessee per On3’s Massey Ratings:
1. Baylor School
Previous Ranking: 1
Baylor School once again remained at No. 1 in the rating for Tennessee following their return to the field with a 48-7 win over St. Pius X (MO) on Senior Night. QB Briggs Cherry threw for five touchdowns, a trio of which went to Joakim Dodson (Tennessee Volunteers), while their defense forced three turnovers, including a pick-six. The Red Raiders have one more Top-25 matchup this week against Montgomery Bell Academy with a likelihood of now finishing undefeated in the regular season after their final two on the road.
2. Oakland
Previous Ranking: 2
Oakland stayed at No. 2 as well after their first game back with a 42-10 victory over Coffee County Central. Five different Patriots scored touchdowns on offense or special teams in the 32-point road win. That has them at 8-0 before a difficult final two games against two other top-rated opponents in No. 7 Ravenwood, the top-rated game in the state this week, and at No. 11 Riverdale.
3. Maryville
Previous Ranking: 4
Maryville clinched their region off their bye last week with a 37-15 win over Cleveland for Senior Night. That also earned them the highest ranking of their season at No. 3 in On3’s Massey Ratings. The Rebels are now at 8-0 ahead of a Top-15 matchup against Alcoa this week before the season finale at Farragut.
4. Ensworth
Previous Ranking: 3
Ensworth fell a spot during their bye week to No. 4. Still, coming off a quality win over Father Ryan, the Tigers look to finish undefeated in the regular season as they host Briarcrest Christian this week before closing the year at Christian Brothers.
5. Christ Presbyterian Academy
Previous Ranking: 5
Christ Presbyterian Academy still stayed at No. 5 in the rating after being idle last week with no game. Now, two games stand between CPA and an unbeaten season, specifically the one this week with a top-ranked game in the state between them and Franklin Road Academy.

6. McCallie School
Previous Ranking: 6
McCallie School stayed at No. 6 after getting back in the win column with a 41-8 victory over Father Ryan. The Blue Tornadoes fired on all fronts with 258 passing yards from Elliott Drapeau, 137 rushing yards with five touchdowns in the first half from Keylan Syam, and two interceptions from their defense. That has them at 6-2 ahead of a two-game home stand to close against Knoxville Catholic and then No. 14 Lipscomb Academy.
7. Ravenwood
Previous Ranking: 7
Ravenwood remained at No. 7 in the ratings with a 28-7 win over Franklin after their break. A trip of Raptors has rushing scores in Caden Pace, who ran for 94 yards on 13 carries, along with Maverick Chance and Ben Hubbard (MTSU Blue Raiders). Now, after a slower game, they’ll have to be ready for their top-two matchups of the fall against two of the best in the state and in their class at No. 2 Oakland this week and then a game for their region versus No. 15 Brentwood.
8. Houston
Previous Ranking: 8
Houston stayed at No. 8 following their idle week on break. Now, after a 55-point shutout win in their last outing, the Mustangs will run this week against White Station before hosting what’s currently a Top-10 matchup between them and No. 10 Collierville.
9. Franklin Road Academy
Previous Ranking: 10
Franklin Road Academy went up a slot to No. 9 amidst their bye week. That sets up one of the best matchups in the state this week when they’ll be hosting No. 4 Christ Presbyterian Academy on Friday.
10. Collierville
Previous Ranking: 9
Collierville dropped a spot to No. 10 in the rating despite a 45-7 win over Cordova coming off their week off. QB Grant Troutman threw five touchdown passes to four different targets in the 38-point victory. Now, after two blowouts over unranked competition in October, the Dragons will finish against Top-30 competition this week at Whitehaven and then when they host their finale against No. 8 Houston.
