Tennessee High School Football Rankings: Top 25 Teams
On3.com

A top-five matchup in Tennessee led to shifts toward the top along with changes throughout the rest of the Top-25 in On3’s Massey Ratings.

Most of the movement this week came at the rounding of the top-five following what was a blowout between two of the top teams in the state. From there, only one new team joined the top-ten and only one new team got into the rating at all.

Still, there are developments throughout with only the top-two in the state holding in the same place after last week.

With that, here’s the latest update to On3’s Massey Ratings for Tennessee after the first week of October:

1. Baylor School

Previous Ranking: 1
The Baylor School remained the No. 1 team in Tennessee following their 44-12 win in a top-five matchup in Chattanooga against McCallie School. David Gabriel-Georges carried the Red Raiders from the very start with him finishing with 17 carries for 232 yards and a trio of touchdowns. They also had a pick-six and passing touchdown to take almost a four-possession shutout into the half before two more rushing scores in the second half pushed it to the final margin of 32. Now, with what win in a game between two of the best in Division II-AAA, Baylor School enters a week off before three games between them and a 10-0 finish.

2. Oakland

Previous Ranking: 2
After a close call a few games back, Oakland has gotten right over the past two weeks, including their latest win at 42-7 over Siegel on Senior Night. Kyler Creasy was perfect on 13 pass attempts for 259 yards and three touchdowns while Daune Morris totaled 168 yards overall and scored three times on his own for an offense that posted 463 yards in the 35-point win. The Patriots will also have the week off ahead of a game against Coffee County Central before their final two come versus opponents currently in the Top-10.

3. Ensworth

Previous Ranking: 5
Ensworth posted another shutout at 35-0 over First Baptist Academy (FL) last week. Over their seven games, it’s the sixth time that they’ve scored 35-plus while also being the sixth time that their defense has allowed six or less points with them having an average margin of victory of 32.4. The Tigers will now play the toughest remaining game on their slate this week when they host Father Ryan.

4. Christ Presbyterian Academy

Previous Ranking: 3
CPA secured a 54-6 win over The Webb School on Friday. That’s a major credit to their defense as the Feet came in averaging 36.8 points with this being their season-low in scoring by far. They’ll now host Antioch with a week off from there before a top-rated matchup against FRA.

5. Maryville

Previous Ranking: 6
Maryville was the final team to move up into the top-five following a 62-28 win at Bearden. It was the most points that they’ve allowed this season but it was also the most points that they themselves have scored this fall. Price Davis would score four times on the night to get to that total, including three in the opening quarter to get a lead they’d have from start to finish. The Rebels will also have the week off before hosting quality competition to end this month in Cleveland and then Alcoa.

6. McCallie School

Previous Ranking: 4
McCallie School was on the losing end of that 44-12 outcome in the top-five matchup against Baylor School. They were down 27-0 nothing early and were never able to recover against the Red Raiders. That loss is the second of the season for the Blue Tornados that ended a four-game winning streak as they’ll now take a week off before playing at Father Ryan in Nashville.

7. Ravenwood

Previous Ranking: 7
Ravenwood posted their third consecutive shutout, plus their fourth in total through seven games, and second straight against a district opponent with a 45-0 win at Summit, which was the 100th career win for their head coach in Will Hester. Maverick Chance had three touchdowns on the night while three other Raptors rushed for scores against the Spartans. Still, while having almost no issue to this point, they’ll play their toughest stretch of the year to finish following the break against Franklin, at Oakland, and versus Brentwood.

8. Houston

Previous Ranking: 9
Houston ended a two-game losing streak with a 33-14 win at Bartlett. After two touchdown passes from Chandler Day to DJ Miller, the Mustangs defense and special teams won it from there with an interception by Miller too, two fumble recoveries with one going back for a score, a safety, and a kick return touchdown off an onside attempt. Over the next three weeks, they’ll now play two opponents where they’ll have a 100% win probability per the ratings before what’s currently a Top-10 matchup to end the season.

9. Collierville

Previous Ranking: 8
Following a three-point win on the road the week prior, Collierville got back to a big margin this last week with a 42-0 shutout at White Station. Their offense had 35 by halftime while their defense held their opponent to zero points for the second time this season. Now, after a week off, the Dragons will have a 100% win probability against Cordova before going on the road for a pair of Top-25 matchups currently to end this season.

10. Riverdale

Previous Ranking: 12
Riverdale rounds out the final spot of the Top-10 after their second straight shutout in a 37-0 win at Cane Ridge. They’ll now have the week off before facing two teams that are presently at 6-1 and in the Top-25 like the Warriors are over final three games.
