Barnes getting Juke example of $$ commitment & great coach

We have not commited the $$ in other sports yet to the degree we have this coming MBB season....hopefully it's a successful template for football $$ commitment.

The football roster is almost 40 million. How much does it need to be for you to say it is a commitment??

~Clearly more if we're still #14 in roster talent according to TOS, and we recruit at ~#9 according to all recruiting sites. I'm not sure that $30M-$40M is a lot compared to Top 5 spenders

I mean how does that compare to the other top teams We are getting close to 18-20 million in basketball which is near the top. Just because Football is double with 4-5x players doesn’t mean much in today’s world

Barnes and Heupel are not equals in coaching ability, reputation and career success. Just the fact of our football program vs our basketball program.

Not enough talent on the field or in the coaching box. Money, gives us a small chance.

OR, what we are spending that money on. Is it spent wisely or wastefully?

“The “someone’s” on this board that know nothing. I listen to Austin, Brent, and Wes. The posters on the Legion of the Miserables only know how to complain, moan, criticize and hope Tennessee loses. They will be mad if we goes undefeated!!!!”

Very true, we may be wasting some of it on high schoolers that portal before they see the field. Or, maybe we are spending it wisely and it just hasn't paid off yet (but will). I don't know, it's a tough question to answer, but talent on field has to increase if we want to compete with the very tip top.

What a strange comment haha it has nothing to do with what I said. We are talking about commitment to winning for the programs with money allotted to the programs rosters. Nothing to do with Barnes or Heupel

Knoxville isn't silicon valley either. How many colleges have great BB and FB since the NIL era ? Michigan? Who else? I think it's reasonable to say you can be great in 1 sport, take your choice. BB is way easier to do that. You can be good in both, hard to be great in both since 1 school has succeeded at it. OSU did it back in the early 60s. If I'm missing a school, add them but it's still a tiny number.

We aren’t great in any sport. We are good in a couple. Alabama has won a natty in football and reached a final 4 in the 2020’s. Michigan has won both, hell even Florida has won a natty in basketball and made the Sec championship game in football in 2020.

I do think Tennessee has the resources to be great in both basketball and football. Only reason it may be a down year this year in football is because of the QB. Our roster is very good and the QBs are really talented, just young and you never know how that will go early on.

The missing link with FB to me is Josh can't prevent disastrous outcomes like Vandy last year, 2023 leading Bama 20-7 at halftime then the team literally returned to Knoxville at halftime, etc. Great coaches that doesn't happen. But, I think Josh is better than good at the same time.
