Hubert loves Carolina. After listening to these stories, it makes me wonder if Hubert kind of sensed this could potentially be his last year as coach. He seems to have paved the pathway to embracing Malone and giving him an avenue inside the program. I wonder if there was any intention to that or if just a big coincidence.

I mean, Malone said Newmark was persistent, and he’d said No a few times, only for Newmark to fly to his house on Easter Sunday (two days ago) and convince him.So, am i right to read between the lines and infer that this job was offered to Malone first? After he initially turns it down, they move on to others on the infamous Tiered list? As the declines get louder, they go back to Malone again and again? Does anyone else think that's what happend?

UNCLife said:I agree. If you watch the press conference, he said that this is the only job he would’ve been interested in. But he wasn’t, initially. That may be because of his daughter, or maybe he thought that he wasn’t going to get paid enough to make it worthwhile. And it also may have been that he knew he was behind a couple of college coaches that he probably views as his inferior from a pure coaching standpoint. Once the deck was cleared, things changed. It is interesting that he may not have been interested in this job at first.

History of failure coming to college from the NBA Grind of recruiting (less of a hit now) Roster turnover (while it is similar to the nba it’s still essentially a new team every year until they enforce some new transfer rules) Assumption of lower salary and more duties (smaller staff)I agree.
