He is probably one of the first names in the portal that I think Painter should and would legitimately pursue hard.

I'm sure the returning guys will get bumped up but surely there's 3-4 million to go get a difference maker. Feels a little like we're resigned to next year not being great and just looking 2 years ahead to make a run...Well, we have Smith, Loyer, and TKR coming off the payroll. I have no clue about him coming here, but I know we were on him at some point + he's the exact player type we can never seem to find. A big wing/3 who can do a lot of different things and is athletic.
Watching this tourney, it's become evident that positional size and athleticism are pre-prerequisites to winning a title. Michigan just reminded me of 24 UConn. The can rebound very well b/c of size + they can switch everything on defense making getting open shots basically impossible. Obv we saw how hard it was for us vs Arizona as well.

I think we've seen with Cluff and Pierce that Painter/Purdue is willing to pay premium rates for guys that fill needs ... but don't think we will ever go after the absolute top end like Hunter Dickinson in the past or Bidunga this year. I am interested in the Serbian kid from Auburn. 3 years of eligibility- 6’8” PF.
May not need him for next year but would be great for 27/28

Still remember him playing with DJ a couple summers ago. He was the only player on the team that looked to pass DJ the ball. High motor, can stretch the floor, absolute perfect fit for Purdue. My dream was that he would get this Duke infatuation out of his system and realize this is the perfect place for him… step 1 complete.
That said, doubt we recruit him or he’s interested. We don’t particularly need his skill set as urgently as a big physical presence which he is not. But make no mistake, this guy is a winner.
