I am told that Stoops is actually in a good place with Kentucky after the dismissal decision. He understood a change needed to be made and while he wasn’t going to accept less than the buyout, worked with them on a plan to make the deferred payments in a way that made sense to everyone
I expect that relationship will remain cordial and Stoops may even stay around Lexington until his next gig, whatever that may be

in the end stoops was gonna get paid either holding the program hostage and or doing what he did yesterday glad it was the ladder.
i personally look at this as a mutual separation rather then a firing

I, too, would be in a good place if I was contractually obligated to receive $38 million to not work.

This makes me happy. I would hate to see it get ugly (ala Kiffin) for someone who has done so much for Kentucky football.

Would General Manager Mark Stoops be a bad thing? I'll hang up and listen...

Would love to see him getting a warm welcome in a few years during a timeout at a game, but seeing as he wasn’t a part of ours biology department or science club that seems unlikely.

It's easy to be gracious when you've won. But, he did UK a solid and it removes some of the nasty from my view of him. I hope he can be around the program in a superficial capacity a la Brooks. Not involved, just an important historical contributor. A founding father. I'm not mad at him for Barnhart's (and/or the collective administration's) absolute failure on the buyout. I know if I cost my employer $40M, I'd get fired.

At the end of the day, he truly did wanna build a winning program and he did improve it on many levels, so I highly doubt he wanted to handcuff UK and possibly hinder the continued growth that he spent years working towards (minus the last couple of seasons).

Completely different from the Cal situation. Stoops deserves the respect, and fan love.

He did not have to accept deferred payments. He had KY (and specifically Mitch) by short hairs and let them off the hook.

Let him still be apart of things, not as a coach but an advisor or something?

So if Stoops were to take another job soon, would we not have to pay the buyout.
