Well, they gave Ament a pile of money based on potential, right? It happens all the time these days.
With JP they have a guy who knows the system and could have been a leader in addition to his basketball skills.
But also in the case of JP we aren’t talking about potential, he has shown that he can compete. What we’re talking about is if he can play a season without limiting injuries that lead to inconsistency.

This really begs the question IMO. I take the rankings with a grade of slaw to a degree but you certainly can’t discount them either. How do we let JP get away based on what we are seeing. IMO it almost has to be something other than just money. Could it be fear of his propensity to injury, he was ready for a a change and or a chance to shoot the 3 ball, or just Rick just being stubborn. Rick is plenty stubborn but I certainly can’t see him cutting his nose off to spite his face particularly with a goof good kid and team mate.

I seem to remember this point of the process being more fun the last couple years. Didn’t we hear more names about specific guys that we were coveting by now? We’re hardly hearing any names this time around and we all know that we are after some guys.
