Sherrone Moore = Juwan Howard

Best comparison I can think of right now after reading through all the threads since the game.. I said multiple times that Michigan was mouthy as hell and acting undisciplined in that game trying to bait OSU into a flag. They lost the bully mentality and its exactly what Sherrones program has been. Undisciplined and mouthy but recruits very well. I hope he can turn things around as much as anyone and get this on track but Michigan is a tough place to do that on the fly. With that said.. Who could be Michigan footballs Dusty May if he cant?

How many opposing coaches or members of the S&C staff has Sherrone threatened to kill yet? He's got work to do

100 percent agreed. Common dominator is Warde hired them both! Worst AD in the land. Let’s remember if it was up to him Juwan would have never been fired

No I would say Hoke is the closest comp. A players coach who the guys view more as a friend or fun uncle more than someone you sort of fear and respect. A healthy bit of fear in your HC is a good thing. They were also both really good position coaches who were thrust into roles they were ill equipped for, and have made assistant hires that haven’t helped their cases. Also their records are similar, and they both struggle mightily on the side of the ball they’re supposedly experts in (Hoke/Def), (Moore/Off). The big difference is Hoke walked into the worst situation in UM history and, Moore was given a very good one.

Although presumably the talent in Hoke’s first year must have been pretty good for him to go 11-2. I’d say Hoke’s biggest issues were OL play and QB development. That’s pretty similar to Sherrone so far.

The story seems to be that the BOR told Warde he either fires Juwan or he (Warde) won’t be back.

Why did the Board of Regents tell Warde he better fire Juwan. Was it for performance being so bad in 2023-2024 or other reasons?

I mean ... he was 8-24. And there were erroneous reports that Juwan was "expected back" in 2024. That was never going to be allowed to happen.

For eveyone always saying he is a great recruiter, how good was he really before the Ellisons and the money started coming in?

This is a lazy comparison. The only comparison between the two men are they’re black men.

I don’t love the Juwan comparison all the time. I’d be on board with it if Sherrone totally loses control and crashes next year….he’d mirror Howard in that regard. Currently the only similarities are that they’re first time HCs that came behind absolutely legendary coaches and they’re both black. That’s it

There are similarities between Juwan and Sherrone, but I think it's a little tough to compare football to basketball. I don't think Sherrone has had enough time to recover from Michigan's late entry into the NIL world. In general, the talent of the current team is young. I think next season will give a clearer picture of the coaching staffs' abilities. I'll bet JB Brown won't be the special teams coach for much longer.

Yes true so the regents care about performance a lot and forced Warde to fire Juwan because it was so bad. I imagine they would do the same if need be for Moore. Hopefully it does not come to that but I am starting to fear it might?

Exactly. It’s lazy. Juwan ran his reputation down the drain because of his actions AND bad record. Coach Moore is waaaay above that and he’s been here almost a decade. No issues whatsoever.

When you go 8-24 AND you smacked an opposing coach in the face multiple times it’s usually a pretty easy decision (unless you’re Warde)

Both inherited a winning program. Both were viewed as under qualified since they never were HCs previously. Both recruited well but never got results on the field.

You lost me at “never got results on the field”. 1-1 against OSU, undefeated against other rivals and coming off a 9-3 season. He’s shown improvement through this season. He has a lot to work on as a 2nd year HC. It is what it is. It was an underwhelming season, however he’s earned the benefit of doubt. Year 3 is big year.

Not even close Howard lost the culture and couldn't mange a roster Moore has maintained (from what we can tell) the culture and recruits a good roster.
