Louisville (Ky.) Male consensus four-star defensive lineman Selah Brown narrowed his list to three schools Sunday: Illinois, Northwestern and hometown Louisville.

He made the announcement on social media, and added that he expects a decision to come soon.

These three schools have been ahead of the pack for Brown for a few months. Brown went on official visits to Northwestern and Illinois in June. And while he has not gone on an official visit to Louisville, he has been on the campus plenty of times.

Brown told the Louisville ABC affiliate he grew up a fan of the Cardinals and dreamed of playing for them.

“It’s just a blessing to know that they want me,” Brown said. “And then the pressure of being a hometown hero and all that stuff, I don’t really let it get to me. Everybody has their own opinion. So if I were to go to Louisville, then it’d be great. If I weren’t, then it’d still be great. I have support on both sides with that.

Where Selah Brown fits in each of his final three schools recruiting classes?

Selah Brown would be a major pickup for the Fighting Illini, which currently have zero defensive lineman or EDGE commits in its 2022 class. Bret Bielema has a lot of commits on offense — 11 of the teams 15 pledges are strictly offensive players and two others are athletes who may end up on either side of the ball.

A commitment from Brown would do wonders for helping round out the class.

Illinois’ in-state rival Northwestern has a more balanced class, but Brown would still be a huge pickup. Towson (Md.) Loyola Blakefield EDGE Anto Saka is the No. 181 recruit in the 2022 On300 and is one of the cornerstones of the Wildcats’ recruiting class. Northwestern also has a commitment from Richland (N.J.) St. Augustine Prep EDGE Denis Jaquez but does not have one from a pure defensive lineman.

Louisville is planning on having a small recruiting class of around a dozen recruits. There are six currently committed to the Cardinals, including Westfield (Ind.) High EDGE Popeye Williams.
