On Monday, On3 updated its 2023 player rankings for the first time in six months. As usual, some players moved up, while others dropped down.

Here are ten prospects that On3 ranks higher than the industry standard.

On3 Industry Comparison Rankings

5-star PF Ron Holland

Starting us off with a bang is Dallas star forward Ron Holland, who has jumped up to the No. 2 overall spot in the class, only behind GG Jackson. ESPN has him second-highest at No. 4, Rivals at No. 9, and 247Sports the lowest at No. 15.

The Texas native has only taken trips to Memphis and Tennessee State but is scheduled to take official visits to Oregon and UCLA in the near future. Auburn, Houston, Kentucky, Arkansas, Texas, and others are also in the mix.

Scouting Report: “It is the motor for Holland, that is what you notice first. He has good positional size, but it is how hard he plays – on both ends – that gets people talking. Holland has performed at the highest levels, with Team USA, on Nike’s EYBL circuit, and at Duncanville High. Coming into his junior season, the question-mark was the skill set, that is shown noticeable improvement. While the jump shot can still get streaky, he is able to use the dribble to get to his spots in the half-court and his pull-up jumper is becoming a weapon. Holland is great in transition, he plays above the rim and has the upside to be a very good defender – both on and off the ball. Production and winning, that is what he has done for a while.” – Jamie Shaw

5-star CG Isaiah Collier

One of the biggest risers in the class is none other than Isaiah Collier. The 6-foot-2 combo guard has earned his fifth star, rising over 20 spots, and is now ranked by On3 as the No. 7 overall prospect. Rivals ranks the Georgia native at No. 12, ESPN at No. 15, and 247Sports as low as No. 22.

Collier boasts offers from Auburn, Cincinnati, Florida State, Alabama, Georgia, UCLA, USC, and others, but his recruitment remains open. So far, he’s taken official visits to Alabama and Cincinnati, and unofficial trips to Auburn and Georgia.

Scouting Report: “Collier is a bigger guard with a strong build and nice length. He is at his best in the pick and roll, where his pace and vision can stand out. Collier has improved his jump shot, as he is confidently taking it off the bounce. While he is not a top-end athlete, he has enough pop to get where he needs to go.” – Jamie Shaw

4-star SG Gavin Griffiths

One prospect in particular On3 is extremely high on is Gavin Griffiths, ranking the 6-foot-7 shooting guard 14 spots higher than any other recruiting media company. On3 has the Connecticut native as the No. 15 overall prospect in the class. Rivals ranks him second highest at No. 29, ESPN not too far behind at No. 32, and 247Sports ranks him by far the lowest at No. 61 overall.

Griffiths has taken one official visit to Iowa but has made unofficial trips to UConn, Providence, and Rutgers. Michigan recently offered the sharpshooter and he hopes to visit Ann Arbor in the near future. Creighton, Virginia Tech, Penn State, Xavier, and others have also offered.

Scouting Report: “One of the sleepers of the class, Griffiths has positional size and toughness. He is the type to pull up from 30-feet on a fast break. Griffiths has a good wing handle, he can attack close-outs and is a tough rebounder.” – Jamie Shaw

4-star C Aaron Bradshaw

The first big man to appear on this list is Aaron Bradshaw, a 7-foot-1 center who comes in at No. 16 overall. ESPN has the big fella at No. 23, whereas 247Sports and Rivals both have him at No. 24.

So far, he’s taken official visits to LSU (his dream school) and Oklahoma State. Kentucky is also interested in the New Jersey native. It’s also important to note that Bradshaw plays at Camden alongside five-star guard DJ Wagner, one of Kentucky’s key targets.

Scouting Report: “You bet on the upside with Bradshaw. Long and range, he has a lot of straight-line pop in his game. Bradshaw is best out of the dunker spots, but he is developing a go-to over his right shoulder. He has touch beyond the three line. Next in his development will be continuing to add weight and with that his confidence should grow.” – Jamie Shaw

4-star SG Jared McCain

Jared McCain is a superstar on the court, and online. The California native boasts nearly a million followers on TikTok and over a quarter million on Instagram. The social media fame, as well as his on-court success, earns him a $286,000 On3 NIL Valuation, a number that is only expected to grow. He recently even announced a partnership with Crocs.

Now, back to rankings. On3 ranks McCain as the No. 17 overall prospect in 2023. ESPN has him at No. 22, Rivals at No. 26, and ESPN at No. 33. He’s recently taken official visits to Gonzaga and Duke, two schools that could be considered as the leaders for him.

Scouting Report: “McCain is a confident and skilled scorer. His best scoring attribute is getting into the mid-range and knocking down an assortment of pull-ups and floaters. He is a good enough shooter from three and he can finish at the basket. McCain is a volume scorer and a shoot-first ball handler. He is a competitive defender and uses and strong and compact frame to be a disruption. McCain has won a lot, at every level.” – Jamie Shaw

4-star SG Stephon Castle

On3 ranks Stephon Castle as the No. 22 overall recruit in the class. Rivals has the 6-foot-5 shooting guard just slightly behind at No. 23, while 247Sports has him at No. 27, and ESPN has him as low as 56.

The Georgia native announced his commitment to UConn last year, choosing the Huskies over Auburn, Arkansas, Georgia, Georgia Tech, and Ohio State.

Scouting Report: “Castle is a basketball player. You look through his game and are able to poke holes in places, but at the end of the day, you see production and wins. He has a strong, physical frame and he can handle and pass in the half-court.” – Jamie Shaw

4-star C Ugonna Kingsley

You may not know his name yet, but you will soon. Ugonna Kingsley makes his debut in the On3 rankings as the No. 25 overall prospect. The 6-foot-11 center is unranked by both ESPN and 247Sports, and only Rivals has him ranked, at No. 87 overall. Kingsley just recently arrived here in the United States, and immediately because one of the top rim protectors in the class, says On3’s Jamie Shaw. The big man holds offers from Georgetown, Ohio State, Clemson, Providence, Georgia, Syracuse, Ole Miss, and others.

Scouting Report: “You immediately see the size, length, and fluidity in the way Ugonna Kingsley moves. The hips are loose, the feet are quick, and the leaping is explosive. On the defensive end, he is a natural. The timing is excellent at the rim and in the passing lanes. He can also fluidly move his feet when he switches onto a perimeter player. His defense is ahead of his offense at this point. He has touch but will need to continue developing confidence in the shot. The ball skills and vision will have to continue to tighten, but he runs the floor very well, changing ends at the drop of a time.” – Jamie Shaw

4-star PG Tyrese Proctor

Making his debut in any of the four major recruiting media companies is Tyrese Proctor, slotted at the No. 26 spot. The 6-foot-4 point guard currently plays at the NBA Global Academy in Australia, the country where he’s been born and raised. Proctor has taken official visits to Duke and Arizona.

Scouting Report: “Proctor is an elite-level passer. He has excellent vision and can spray the ball across the court from any angle. He plays balanced and with his head up. The jump shot, especially off the catch, is pure. The question with Proctor will be what position he will end up being, with his lack of burst and somewhat loose handle. He is still young, and his IQ is undoubtedly there. Tuck him away and track his development.” – Jamie Shaw

Proctor recently recapped his visits and recruitment with On3. You can read that here.

4-star SF Dennis Parker

On3 is also extremely high on Dennis Parker, ranking the 6-foot-7 small forward just inside the top-30, slotted at No. 28 overall. 247Sports has him second-highest at No. 44 overall, followed by Rivals at No. 56, and on ESPN he’s currently unranked.

The Virginia native has received offers from Kansas, LSU, Oklahoma State, Illinois, NC State, Virginia Tech, and others. On3 recently caught up with him and he discussed which two schools are prioritizing him.

Scouting Report: “Parker has a great frame and a competitive nature. He has always been a very good defender, using his length for a lot of deflections as a team defender. He can move his feet on the perimeter and switch down a line up with his length. This season Parker vastly improved his shot creation. He has a nice mid-range and mid-post game. He has turned what used to be a question-mark, three-point shooting, into a weapon now. Parker is an above-average, but below-elite, athlete. His father was a football player and Parker gets some of his competitive nature from him. He battled with injuries early in his career, but the 6-foot-7 wing took big strides this high school season. Won a state championship.” – Jamie Shaw

4-star C Jordan Butler

Yet another big man On3 is higher on is Jordan Butler, a 6-foot-11 center out of South Carolina. On3 now has him No. 30 overall, while ESPN ranks him 54, 247Sports at 58, and Rivals at 61.

The big man holds offers from Auburn, Georgia, Alabama, Georgia Tech, and Wake Forest. He’s taken an official visit to Auburn, and unofficial to Georgia, Florida State, and Virginia Tech.
