Four-star linebacker Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa of Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco is one of the most sought-after recruits in the class of 2024.

He already has offers from 11 schools, all but one of them at the Power Five level. His offer list includes powerhouses such as Auburn, LSU, Michigan, Ohio State, Oregon and USC.

Viliamu-Asa has not played this season due to injury. He recently talked with On3 about his rehab, his recruitment and his relationship with the Ohio State coaching staff.

Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa’s rehab is progressing well

Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa tore his ACL in Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco’s final game of the 2021 slate in April.

“I’m doing great so far,” he On3’s Jake Reuse. “The rehab is great. I’m like on schedule with everything…I probably have a couple months left.”

He added that he probably will not play this season just to be safe.

The 6-foot-2 linebacker said he is spending this recovery time working on the mental side of the game and being there for his teammates. He has also been able to do some lifting with the team.

“It’s not something I look forward to but it’s definitely something that’s gonna make me stronger, physically and mentally,” Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa said of his injury.

Viliamu-Asa’s budding relationship with Ohio State

When asked about with which schools he has developed a strong early relationship, Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa said Ohio State. He cited linebackers coach Al Washington as someone he talks with on a fairly regular basis.

“He’s a real cool guy,” Viliamu-Asa said. “He’s real stand up, the kind of person that you want to see in a coach. He’s not going to tell you things you want to hear — he’s going to be straight up with you.”

Viliamu-Asa was the first player in the 2024 class to receive an offer from Ohio State. He visited Columbus in June, saying it was a “great experience.”

He was supposed to return earlier this month and watch Ohio State play Oregon at “The Shoe” but was unable to make the trip. So Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa attended the USC-Stanford game in Los Angeles instead.

It’s still early in Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa’s recruiting process

UNLV offered Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa in January and since then the linebacker has continued to rack up offers.

Viliamu-Asa said he would be interested in picking up offers from schools like Alabama, Georgia, Stanford and Washington.

Schools in each of the Power Five conferences have offered Viliamu-Asa. He said he is open to leaving the West Coast if it provides the best opportunity for him.

“Staying home is great but getting that experience somewhere that is best for me,” Viliamu-Asa said, “I feel like that’s where it’s gonna lead me to go.”
