On3 will spend this week going by position to take a look at the 2024 class. Today we look at the 2024 forwards. We updated the 2022 class rankings, and On3 is in the process of updating its 2024 class rankings, but what about the class of 2024?

Three to watch

6-9 Derik Queen

The skill is what pops with Queen. He is comfortable on the ball, handling in the full or half-court, and scoring at each level. He can score on the block with his size and sturdy frame, with touch over both shoulders. Queen can also finish in the mid-range or catch and shoot threes. There are questions about his athleticism and explosion, but his production at Montverde (FL) Academy speaks for itself with talent toward the top of this class.

Claimed offers: Indiana, Arizona State, Georgetown, Virginia Tech, Texas, LSU, DePaul, Auburn, Xavier, Maryland, etc.

6-8 Khani Rooths

Rooths has an intriguing skill set that continues to get better after each viewing. Blessed with long arms and a natural fluidity in his movements, Rooths uses his length to get in the passing lanes and disrupt things. The Washington (DC) Georgetown Prep forward has smooth tough with a repeatable release. He also has confidence in his handle to get to his spots off two and three dribbles. He will still need to continue adding strength and tightening his overall skill set, but the upside is obvious.

Claimed offers: Xavier, Virginia Tech, Indiana, Georgetown, Maryland, etc.

6-8 Jason Asemota

Asemota is a strong forward prospect with good length and size. He plays his best in transition, switching ends and attacking the basket. He is still figuring his way in the half-court, but he has shown touch and the ability to get to the rim in straight lines. This year, he has played an extensive schedule with Phoenix (AZ) Hillcrest Prep and produced a 20 and 10 stat line. That production has his name toward the top of the class.

Claimed offers: Auburn, Kansas, Illinois, Oregon, Ohio State, Oklahoma St, Florida, TCU Georgia, Texas Tech, Memphis, etc.

The wildcard

6-8 Ace Bailey

He is raw, but boy does Ace Bailey have a ton to like. He plays with a lot of pop, with natural timing and tools around the rim. The Powder Springs (GA) McEachern High finishes high above the rim in the half-court, and he can slide his feet on defense or block shots at the top of the square. The touch is there from the free-throw line; we would like to see him extend that out consistently, beyond the three-point arc. He also has a solid base for a handle, but we would like to see him improve his reads in-game. All in all, the tools are obvious. It will be about how much he can fine-tune all that natural ability. He could be one you see sky-rocket in rankings over the next 12 months.

Claimed offers: Auburn, Tennessee, Ole Miss, etc.
