Kris Parker is the 2023 On3 Consensus No. 31 player. The 6-foot-7 wing has a smooth floor game that helped him average 15.5 points on 36.5-percent shooting from three during UAA’s Session 1.

“I’m a smooth combo guard,” Parker told On3. “I can score the ball, but I can also facilitate for my teammates. I’m a lot stronger this summer than I was last, I have been working hard in the weight room, and I can tell in my game. I’m also shooting well. I watch a lot of Devin Booker and Jayson Tatum, how they create shots and space.”

The Team Breakdown wing has caught the eye of college coaches, who are starting to prioritize him. On3 caught up with Kris Parker to talk about where his recruitment stands.

“I have offers from Illinois, Florida State, Georgia, Kansas State, and a handful of others. I’ve not been on any official visits yet. I visited Florida State; they are right near where I stay in Tallahassee. I want to take all my visits this year. I know I want to go see Illinois and definitely Georgia.”

Parker talks recruitment

Illinois: “I like how they have big guards, letting them make plays. From talking to the coaches and watching them, it seems I would fit in their system really well.”

Georgia: “It has always been one of my favorite schools growing up. And Anthony Edwards is one of my favorite players right now.”

Florida State: “I saw they play a lot of defense. They teach gap protection and a lot of IQ stuff there. They have put guys like me in the pros too.”

“I talk a lot with Arizona State and Arkansas,” Parker added. “They haven’t offered yet, but they are interesting, and I would like to learn more.”

Parker’s take

“I’ve talked to OTE,” Parker said. “I have not talked to the G-League yet, they have hinted at it, but it has not been anything serious yet. It will be an option that we will talk about, but I am not really looking into it much right now. I am focused on schools.

“The ultimate goal is to get to the next level, so I want to go somewhere that will help me develop. I want to go somewhere that is serious about me and serious about getting better and getting me to that next level.”

On3’s take

Kris Parker is a long and rangy wing. He has confidence on the ball in the half-court, and his ability as a shotmaker continues to rise. He will need to continue adding strength and overall sharpening his tools and shot selection. There is a lot of natural talent here, and the production has given him a consensus spot in the top 50. There is an upside still to go, and the intrigue lies with the fact he continues to get better a little better each time out.
