Natchitoches (La.) Natchitoches Central three-star offensive tackle Tyler Johnson shared his commitment date on Sunday night. He will be revealing his college decision on Sept. 2.

Johnson is the No. 607 overall prospect and No. 40 offensive tackle in the 2023 On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 25 player in Louisiana.

The 6-foot-6, 300 pound offensive lineman will be choosing among 15 schools. They include Arkansas State, Baylor, Grambling State, Houston, Kansas State, Liberty, Louisiana, Louisiana-Monroe, Louisiana Tech, Memphis, Missouri, Northwestern State, Texas Tech, Tulane and USF.

According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, it is a close race for Johnson’s commitment. Texas Tech has the highest odds at 56%, while Baylor isn’t far behind at 37%.

RPM was released to the public in December. The On3 engineering group teamed up with Spiny.ai to create the industry’s first algorithm and machine learning-based product to predict where athletes will attend college.

It factors in machine learning, social sentiment, visits and historical trends. However, expert predictions are still a big piece of the RPM equation.

Johnson has taken two official visits in his recruiting process. His first was to Baylor on June 10. He then traveled to Texas Tech on June 24.
