Platte City (Mo.) Platte County junior EDGE Chandavian Bradley is the highest-ranked prospect to come out of the Kansas City metro area in a while.

Bradley, who is 6-foot-6 and 210 pounds, ranks as the No. 40 player in the 2023 rankings from On3. He joins a rare list of Kansas City-area prospects to earn national recruiting recognition such Josh Freeman, Evan Boehm, Drew Lock, Graham Mertz and Dontae Manning.

He picked up his first scholarship offer in February of 2021. Now Bradley has double-digit offers with only one game of his junior season under his belt. With such lofty recognition, it was no surprise his phone was buzzing on Wednesday. Recruiters used the first opportunity to text the four-star prospect.

“No new offers yet,” Bradley said. “But yes, my phone was blowing up.

“I heard from ISU, KU, K-State, OU, Notre Dame, USC, Arkansas, Michigan State, Mizzou, Michigan, Alabama, Texas A&M, Tennessee, Middle Tennessee, Memphis, Kentucky, Colorado, Ohio State, Oregon, Louisville, Northwestern, Nebraska, Penn State, FSU and Indiana.

“Oh, and Florida and Ole Miss, too.”

In the past Chandavian Bradley mentioned Notre Dame and Oklahoma as two schools he really is high on. This weekend Bradley is going to use the opportunity to see two of his newest offers face off.

Wisconsin and Penn State offered Bradley scholarships in early August. And after Platte County’s game Friday night against Kearney, he will head up to Madison to watch the Badgers and Nittany Lions battle.

“I’m excited,” Bradley said.

But don’t expect any kind of decision soon. Bradley is focused on his junior season. He plans to lead Platte County to another Missouri Class 5 state championship game.

Bradley is an intriguing prospect to recruiters. He has a huge upside and high ceiling. He’s a three-sport athlete (football, basketball and track) and coaches love his athletic ability. Bradley’s sophomore highlight tape shows why schools are heavily recruiting him.

“Bradley has length in spades with the frame to add significant bulk,” On3 National Analyst Gerry Hamilton said. “Displays high-end snap anticipation, and fires off low to maximize blow-by ability. That stands out for a young EDGE prospect. Also flashes the ability to get small and disrupt on inside move. Eats up ground with stride. Displays some high-end reactive quickness and the ability to flip and close on the ball.”
