4-star CB Camren Hamiel down to four schools with official visits set

Goodyear (Ariz.) Desert Edge four-star cornerback Camren Hamiel is the No. 1 recruit in Arizona this cycle. He’s now down to four schools.
The 6-foot-1, 175-pounder announced on Friday that Nebraska, Oregon, Penn State and Texas A&M are his final four. Additionally, he’s confirmed his upcoming official visit schedule.
He’ll head to Penn State next weekend and then see Nebraska (June 6), Oregon (June 13) and A&M (June 20) next month. A commitment will likely come after for the blue-chip defensive back.
Hamiel is the No. 263 overall prospect and No. 24 corner in the 2026 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
As a junior for Desert Edge, Hamiel logged 50 total tackles, three interceptions, three pass breakups, a sack and a blocked field goal. The Scorpions won 10 games last season and finished as a top-25 team in the state, per the On3 Composite Rankings.

Oregon: “I love coach Lanning’s story and how Oregon looks. I was surprised by how it was there, the environment and all of that. It is a great program and I saw that it is a great place when I was there this spring.”
Penn State: “Penn State has a tradition of having a great defense. It is something I can see that I can see myself in. It is a school I haven’t visited yet, so it will be good to get up there.”
Texas A&M: “Texas A&M is a school I have visited twice and they make it feel like a second family. They treat me like I am already part of a team and coach BGA (Bryant Gross-Armiento) is a great coach.”
“I plan to commit around the middle of summer after my official visits,” he previously said. “When I finish the visits, I will sit down with my family, coach and agent, then talk it over and that will lead to my commitment.”
