4-star EDGE Collins Acheampong announcing decision Friday

Anaheim (Calif.) Santa Margarita Catholic four-star EDGE Collins Acheampong will announce his college decision Friday.

It will come one week after he was originally set to make his decision. He is choosing between LSU, Miami, Michigan and UCLA.

Acheampong is the No. 317 overall recruit in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

He currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $15.7k. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.

The Wolverines are the heavy favorites to land Acheampong, according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, at 74.6%.

“The coaches are cool from the head coach all the way down,” Collins Acheampong told The Wolverine. “If you need to talk to the head coach, he’s there. Coach Harbaugh is like someone I’ve known my whole life. He’s like that one uncle at the family reunion. Coach Elston is more like a dad figure. The way he would take care of you is the way he would take care of his kids. I got to meet his family, and the same way he talks to them is the same way he talks to me. I wouldn’t be getting anything different.”

RPM was released to the public in December. The On3 engineering group teamed up with Spiny.ai to create the industry’s first algorithm and machine learning-based product to predict where athletes will attend college. 

It factors in machine learning, social sentiment, visits and historical trends. However, expert predictions are still a big piece of the RPM equation.
