4-star EDGE Neeo Avery decommits from Penn State
Glen Burnie (Md.) Good Counsel four-star EDGE Neeo Avery announced Sunday that he has decommitted from Penn State.
Avery originally committed to the Nittany Lions on New Year’s Eve.
“I just want to start this off by saying thank you to the whole Penn State staff for taking a chance on me and giving me an opportunity to play ball at the next level,” Avery wrote. “For that, I can’t thank y’all enough and this decision that my family and I have come to has been very hard. But with that being said I will be decommitting and my recruitment is 100% back open.”
The On3 Consensus — a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies — has Avery as the No. 196 overall recruit in the class.
Avery is ranked No. 176 overall in the 2023 On300 ranking, which makes him the third best player from the state of Maryland.

He currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $23k. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
Avery’s recruitment picked up tons of steams in the time right after he announced his decommitment. Jackson State, Louisville, Miami, North Carolina, UConn and USC all offered Avery on Sunday morning following his announcement.
